Yearling Cup

A race reserved for horses presented at the Select Yearling Sale in September at Deauville

Paris-Vincennes Racecourse

This race is exclusively reserved for all horses catalogued at Arqana Trot’s 2019 Select Yearling Sale, with the total prize money amounting to €150,000. The objective of this competition is to promote and encourage investment in the yearling market, and for buyers to subsequently be rewarded for their investments.

A new concept, inspired largely by the foreign Breeders Crowns and other prestigious examples (UET, Hambletonian, Breeders’ Course…), this race was given the go ahead by France’s governing body, Le Trot, as a Group 3 that will be run over the distance of 2,700m in August 2020 at Paris-Vincennes Racetrack.

The original financing method will require the support of all the main players in the profession, i.e. breeders, vendors, stallion owners, owner-buyers, and Arqana Trot.

Contribution from Stallion Owners

To reach prize money of €150,000, the stallion owners or the studs where they stand will also be asked to contribute.

To allow the offspring of their stallion to be eligible for this race, they must give an entry right of 15% of the official covering fee published two years previously.

(A simulation of the yearling generation offered in 2017, with an estimate of the covering fees generated in 2015 has resulted in an amount of €550,000.)

Then, as each entry is validated for each stallion, each of their yearlings will be given a distinct logo in the catalogue.

This is a question of spotlighting the quality and the representation of each stallion, and to give them the best publicity with a reasonable budget.
